For graduates struggling to find work locally or matrics with no plans as yet for 2025, a Gap Year is a viable and timeous option, however only if it is systematically planned.

Non-negotiable steps include:

1. Ensuring paperwork and documentation is in order.

2. Building your worth as a potential candidate by doing a short course in a practical skill (au pair, barista, bartender, customer service, first aid)

3. Knowing the key agencies that assist with placements eg. Workaway.

4. Researching your options and the costs thereof thoroughly.

5. Being flexible, realistic and willing to multi-tasking (you can do a few jobs simultaneously)

Propel yourself out of your comfort zone, take accountability to make it happen, and go for it - you will emerge as a richer person in every sense!
